Roots

Roots is a conceptual hot sauce brand that reframes flavour as a platform for cultural storytelling exploring what happens when heat is tied not only to taste, but to heritage, memory, and connection. Developed in response to a saturated market where hot sauces often sit between overly traditional or overly experimental design approaches, Roots identifies a gap in both identity and positioning. It challenges the visual stereotype of traditional sauces while preserving cultural authenticity within a contemporary, design-led framework. A cohesive visual and narrative system supports this idea, combining typography, a colour palette and illustrative elements inspired by roots and ancient markings to reference origin and storytelling. Each sauce is tied to a specific region and enriched with folklore-inspired narratives and curated recipes, extending the experience beyond product into cultural engagement. Roots ultimately positions everyday hot sauce as more than a condiment transforming it into a story-driven experience that connects people to culture through flavour.
